How the Wegovy Pill works
The Wegovy Pill is oral semaglutide, a GLP-1 medicine. It works with your body's own appetite signals so you feel satisfied on less, without willpower doing all the work.
Acts on the parts of your brain that control hunger, reducing cravings and the constant "food noise" that drives overeating.
Slows how quickly your stomach empties, so you feel full for longer after eating and find it easier to eat smaller portions.
Helps regulate your blood sugar, smoothing out the spikes and dips that trigger cravings between meals.
Both use the same active ingredient (semaglutide). The difference is how you take it — and for many people, a daily tablet just fits life better.

The Wegovy Pill is oral semaglutide — the first once-daily GLP-1 weight loss tablet approved for use in the UK (MHRA, June 2026). It contains the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, but in tablet form, so there are no needles and no fridge storage.
Semaglutide mimics GLP-1, a natural hormone that controls appetite. It works on the areas of your brain involved in hunger to reduce cravings and "food noise", slows how quickly your stomach empties so you feel fuller for longer, and helps regulate blood sugar — so you naturally eat less.
It is the same medicine (semaglutide) taken a different way. The pill is a once-daily tablet rather than a once-weekly injection, is stored at room temperature rather than in a fridge, and needs to be taken on an empty stomach with a small sip of plain water, waiting 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other medicines.
In the OASIS 4 clinical trial, people taking the maximum 25mg dose of oral semaglutide lost, on average, 16.6% of their starting body weight over 64 weeks. Individual results vary and depend on dose, diet, activity and how consistently the medication is taken.
Take one tablet each morning on an empty stomach with no more than half a glass (about 120ml) of plain water. Do not eat, drink anything else, or take other medicines for at least 30 minutes afterwards. Swallow the tablet whole — do not split, crush or chew it.
You start on a low 1.5mg dose to help your body adjust and reduce side effects, then increase gradually about every 4 weeks — 4mg, then 9mg, up to the 25mg maintenance dose. Your clinician will guide your titration based on how you respond.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation — which are usually mild and tend to settle as your body adjusts. Others can include stomach pain, headache and tiredness. Less common but more serious effects should be discussed with your clinician. You will be given full information before starting.
The Wegovy Pill is a prescription-only medicine for adults who meet the clinical eligibility criteria for weight management. To find out if it is right for you, complete our free weight loss assessment — a UK-registered clinician reviews every application before any medication is prescribed.
Many people can, but the doses are not directly interchangeable, so your clinician will set the right starting dose for the tablet. Complete the assessment and let us know your current treatment, and our clinical team will advise on the safest way to switch.
As with all GLP-1 treatments, appetite and weight can return after stopping if lifestyle changes are not maintained. That is why Evernu provides ongoing clinical support, monitoring and habit coaching alongside your medication — to help you keep the weight off long term.
