Independent doctor survey · April 2026

What UK doctors say about GLP-1 weight loss clinics

Independent online poll of 15 UK-registered medical doctors, conducted in April 2026. Six questions on familiarity with GLP-1 medications, clinical concerns, the relevance of lean mass loss, and what patients should look for when choosing an online weight loss clinic.

Headline findings

  • 93% of UK doctors say weight loss clinics offering GLP-1 medication should provide structured support to preserve lean (muscle) mass — 80% say it should be standard practice, 13% for selected patients.
  • 100% rate lean mass loss as at least somewhat clinically relevant when using GLP-1 therapies; 60% rate it as very clinically relevant and should be actively addressed.
  • 87% say long-term adherence and weight regain is a key consideration when patients use GLP-1 medications.
  • 73% say patient screening and safety processes are what patients should look for when choosing an online GLP-1 clinic — versus 20% who said cost and 13% convenience.

Methodology

  • Sample. 16 responses collected; 15 from respondents who self-verified as UK-registered medical doctors. The 1 non-UK respondent is excluded from every figure on this page.
  • Format. Online self-report survey, 6 questions: 4 single-choice and 2 multi-select. No incentive was offered.
  • Period. Responses gathered in April 2026.
  • Limitations. n=15 is a small sample. Multi-select questions allow more than one answer per respondent, so percentages don't sum to 100. Treat findings as indicative of UK doctor sentiment, not a representative population estimate.
  • Conflict of interest. Evernu commissioned and published this survey. We have a commercial interest in offering structured lean-mass support as part of our weight loss programme. We've published the verbatim question wording, the full answer breakdowns, and the sample size so the data can be independently scrutinised.

Why we ran this survey

Most online weight loss clinics in the UK compete on price and convenience. We wanted to know what doctors actually think patients should be optimising for. The findings are unambiguous: clinical safety and long-term outcomes — not headline cost — are what UK doctors say matters most.

That validates the way we've built Evernu's GLP-1 programme: structured screening before treatment, ongoing clinician oversight, and explicit support for preserving muscle mass alongside fat loss. If you'd like to see how that works in practice, our weight loss programme page covers the clinical model in detail.
